Congratulations! New Year’s Honours for Tollbar Principal

Bluestorm is proud to offer congratulations to David Hampson, Principal of Tollbar Business and Enterprise College after being awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours List.
Mr Hampson has been principal of Tollbar BEC in Waltham for almost 19 years, and in that time has helped to turn it into the highest-performing comprehensive school in the country.
His OBE came at the end of the school’s most successful year ever, after receiving an ‘Outstanding’ OFSTED award, its best ever GCSE and A-Level performance in the school’s history and the introduction of the International Baccalaureate in place of A-Level exams.
Bluestorm has worked with the Principal over the last two years, developing and implementing highly successful integrated communication strategies, in preparation of the transfer from A-Levels to IB status. The working partnership has proved to be highly effective, resulting in Tollbar securing the largest number of applicants during its first year, more so than any other IB school in Europe.
Mr Hampson said: “My aim has always been to improve the quality of education for young people. Every time my students succeed it adds to my feeling of fulfilment.” He also admitted he was “completely overwhelmed” by the OBE, which he dedicated to his father, “the man who ensured that I got a good education and went on to achieve in life.”
Bluestorm was engaged to provide a comprehensive, integrated marketing service. The overriding objective was to centralise marketing activities in order to achieve a greater level of consistency and more effective budget and project management. View the range of work
